AR1121 in hydrogen and calcium light

these 2 movies show AR1121 in calcium and hydrogen light. both were captured at 1 minute intervals on 5 nov 2010. a surge of plama can be seen in the hydrogen alpha movie

the calcium movie shown below exhibits a modest change in brightness in small areas of the plage. of interest is the granulation in the quiet areas. click on the image to start the action

the telescope i use is a takahashi tsa 102 with a double stacked 75mm hydrogen alpha filter made by Lunt Solar. i like to use lucam recorder to capture avi files with my dmk 21AU04 ccd. it has a great timer function and moveable crosshair, two features that really help make things easy. i like to capture 300-400 frames once a minute at 60fps. for prominences, i will keep the frame rate as fast as possible and capture aprox 250 images for each avi file.
